My Son Loves Surfing

My son, Griffin started skateboarding at 4 years old and he was a natural, but after about a year, when his tricks started getting more challenging and his knees were permanently bloody, my husband thought he should try surfing because water is much softer than cement. I was not too keen on the idea because he could not really swim. Kevin (my husband) surfed for 10 years when he was 16, but when I met him at 30 his boards were pretty dusty.He assured me that the wetsuit floats and he can hold his breath, so he would be fine. So what do we do next? We don't live near the beach.
